Ensure that all students learn the academic and
social skills necessary to be successful in school and later in
life.
With a focus on helping students
succeed, Tates Creek Elementary is committed to providing all
students with an opportunity to learn. We work to make
sure no child is left behind and that all of our students can
reach their full potential.

Supply Lists
Heelys, Wheelies and Other
Roller Shoes
Due to safety concerns,
our long and straight tiled hallways, and recommendations from
the Heely manufacturer that children wear safety gear when
wearing Heelys, we do not believe it is safe for children to
wear the wheels to school as they are considered recreational
footwear. The tool to remove the wheels may also cause
injuries when younger children are trying to remove them.
We ask that your children leave the wheels (and tools to remove
them) safely at home so they do not get lost. We
appreciate your help in keeping your children safe at TCE.

Principally
Speaking...
I hope you were
able to try a few of the tips previously given. Here are 5 more
tips on how to raise a reader:
1.
Make reading time special. Cuddle up in a quiet, comfortable
spot. Your child will associate reading with feeling secure,
relaxed and loved.
2.
Encourage your child
to read at least 20 – 30 minutes a day, either to you or
independently. (Night reading is part of TCE’s Homework
Policy).
3
Take along your
child’s favorite books wherever you go. Read on the bus, in
line at the store or in waiting rooms.
4.
Take your child to
the library often and check out a variety of age-appropriate
reading materials.
5.
Be a role model –
read on your own. By seeing how much you enjoy reading, your
child will learn that it’s a great source of information and
fun.
REMEMBER –
By encouraging your child to read, you are
helping to ensure school success and success in life.
